The Queen will celebrate her Platinum Jubilee this year, marking 70 years since she ascended to the throne.
Bringing the fun of the Jubilee into the workplace
The Queens' Jubilee marks an opportunity to celebrate in different ways, especially as the past few years have been rather sparse in the social calendar. This doesn’t have to cost a lot – maybe picnics or barbecues or fundraising events, all of which would bring people together in a social context.
For employers, this presents a great opportunity to bring a little fun into the workplace. Whilst many organisations will enjoy a four day weekend, for those that remain open and working, it doesn't mean you can't bring the celebrations to the workplace.
As it is the Platinum Jubilee, there will be an opportunity to run some reward or recognition programmes around the number 70. It will depend on the organisation, but 70 might become a target for something, perhaps a daily prize for the week before the Jubilee weekend, or the first 70 people to do something. Organisations should be creative and take this one-off opportunity to enjoy celebrations within the workplace.
Nothing delights a workforce more than food, we all love any opportunity to get together and enjoy a 'fuddle', so why not think about hosting A Big Jubilee Lunch and bring everyone together for some sweet treats.
